Here we go, AssociationSuccess.org readers: Big changes are upon us.

If you participated in SURGE Growth last week, then you got to hear a little about about all the amazing new opportunities we’re developing for you to engage with other association professionals as we seek to do some growing of our own.

We spent the summer challenging ourselves to think more critically about what AssociationSuccess.org does to create new connections and find new ideas that could evolve the association industry. That challenge ended in us rethinking our own core purpose and values.

We knew we remained committed to this industry comprised of the people who manage and impact the social and professional organizations that link so many of us. Association professionals have the ability to create sweeping change by providing services, community and education for the researchers, artists, doctors, lawyers, scientists, technicians, manual laborers and teachers who make our world a smarter, healthier and more vibrant place. By helping the association industry, we hope to help the world.

We know our core purpose, then, is to build badass leaders.

So, what is a badass leader?

We think badass leaders don’t accept complacency. They push the envelope and challenge the status quo. They don’t just rely on their own thoughts, but they seek diverse opinions and find the right solution to solve problems. We know badass leaders ask why and aren’t afraid to experiment even if it means they might fail.

When we asked our SURGE registrants, you said badass leaders are “fearless,” “confident” and “visionary.” You said they are “supportive, motivating and productive.” Badass leaders “get the job done,” and are “on the top of your game.” A badass leader “understands what the association stands for and (is) passionate about it.”

But how will we build badass leaders? Well, we certainly can’t do it alone.

That’s why we unveiled Community, an interactive message board that allows the great conversations that happen at SURGE to continue rear-round. Some of you already got to jump into the conversation during SURGE, and so now you know how vital those discussions can be moving forward.

We’ve also begun publishing premium content online, featuring interviews and insights from the association industry and beyond. You’ll see more of those in the coming days. But we need your help to keep this going.

With our new Professional membership to AssociationSuccess.org, you’ll be able to access our video archive of past SURGE events, webinars and author interviews, read an unlimited number of premium articles per month and explore our new virtual learning experiences. Professional members will even get discounts on the courses we develop with some of the world’s leading business minds, like the course on Cultural Transformation we partnered with business coach and author John Spence to produce.

All of it is aimed at discovering and learning from the intersections of the association industry and the world beyond it, taking lessons from businesses, thought leaders and news headlines that can make associations more relevant and future-proof.

Get details on the different types of membership we have, and don’t hesitate to send feedback on all the changes to [email protected]
