I wanted to share an exciting opportunity surrounding the Engaging Associations Forum conference, which will be held in Ottawa, Ontario July 19th-21st. (To read more about the conference, click here).

EAF is looking for two courageous association exec volunteers- one from a trade association and another from a professional association – to be on stage in the ‘heart seat’ (because a ‘hot seat’ sounds alarming, disarming, and frankly un-Canadian) for one of their sessions.

This is an opportunity for those of you who are willing to be vulnerable. Each will tell their own story of a unique membership recruitment or retention challenge they face. Taking a ‘clarity council’ approach, the audience will help the volunteers explore different strategies and brainstorm solutions.

You qualify if:

  • You’re employed full-time with a trade or professional association – preferably at a senior leadership level.
  • You can provide quantifiable information about your organization’s recruitment or retention issue (such as membership size, growth, demographics, etc.)
  • You’re willing to prepare for the session with the guidance of a facilitator.
  • You’re brave enough to be in the limelight for 30 minutes, while your peers ask questions and offer advice!

If you’re chosen, you’ll be able to attend the conference for free, and might even be offered coverage of some expenses, depending on where you are travelling from.

For tips on how to access your vulnerability and bravery prior to this Canadian trip, you can always refer to Justin Trudeau’s engaging combination of dedicated Father and part-time fitness guru – although EAF cannot be held responsible for any international acclaim and unprecedented media attention that follow.
